Introduction

We are off to.... is our Blog to allow family, friends, and others that are interested to follow us on our extended RV travels.

We aren't full time RVers but like to take extended trips of a month or more as often as we can. We prefer public agency campgrounds like State and National Parks, US Forest Service, etc. We do use some RV Parks if they are the closest or most convenient place to things we want to see or do.

We will attempt to provide information on the various campgrounds we stay in, things to do in the area, and pictures of what we see.

Off to Oregon and Washington

Early June is a good time to go to Oregon and Washington because summer is here with all its hot days and nights.  We have a number of stops on this trip which will take us into July and I'd like it more if it took us until late September when it cools off.

It was 89 degrees yesterday and forecast to be hotter today.  We left about 11 am as we planned to stop for the night in Yreka and knew it would be hot there so we didn't want to arrive too early.  It was 109 when we went through Redding but dropped to 84 near Mt. Shasta but was 95 when we arrived in Yreka.  Still trying to get the trailer cooled off.

We may get some help tonight as there are thunderstorms in the area which generally cool thing down for a while.

We chose to stop here as it is about half way between home and our friends home near Sandy, OR.  I have seen the RV Park a number of times when on I-5 passing through Yreka but we were going through to home or had a stop further north.  We thought we would try it this time as it would allow us to leave later in the morning and arrive Wednesday mid afternoon at our friends home.

The RV Park is almost all pull thru sites and is well laid out, clean and reasonable.  There is well maintained grass between sites and the trees are young but are growing quickly.

Site pads are gravel and fairly level.  All have 50 amp service, water, sewer and 49 TV Channels.  The park isn't full but there are a number of sites filled of the 102 and the WiFi is solid and fast.

Office and club house.

They advertise that they provide free Newspapers (Siskiyou paper), Coffee in the morning, and have bicycles you can use to ride into old town (about a mile) also free.  They do charge for ice, ice cream, and sodas, but not much.  Ice is $2  and ice cream or sodas are 50 cents..  It is also a Good Sam park with the 10% discount for members.

It is 8:15 pm and the trailer is now comfortable but the air conditioner hasn't stopped running.

We will likely stop here again.

  1. A good start for the trip. It looks clean and is nice to see the mountains in the background. Hope the weather cools off for you. It is supposed to be 90 here today.

  2. Yay, another trip of yours to enjoy! You two do a great job with beautiful pictures and great narratives. I get to travel without leaving home.

    Thanks,
