We are in Cody, WY at Absaroka Bay RV Park for the
weekend. Our luck with sites finally ran
out. While we are backed up to a lake
that is about 100’ from our trailer there is a row of bushes and US Highway 14 between us and the lake. The highway is very
noisy to say the least. We are also in
the flight path of Cody airport with occasional jets landing and taking
off. There are no trees and the sites are close together. Other than that the park is well
maintained with nice grass strips between pull through sites. The laundry room is clean, has lots of
washers and dryers and the price is reasonable.
The park is conveniently located close to everything we want to do and
see so what’s a little noise. The trains
didn’t bother me at the Oregon campground so I guess we can live with it.
Linda was a little under the weather this morning so it was
afternoon before we got out. Guess what
the first stop was? Yes, you guessed it,
the quilt shop, Friends & Co. with 4000 sq. ft of space that was filled to
the brim. I’ll let her describe it as I
spent the time on a slider chair out in front greeting all the ladies as they
came and went.
We parked and walked to the front of the building where a
sign said go to the other side of the building.
From Linda: If you
are a quilter and happen to be in Cody, you need to see this place! It has the best selection of batik fabrics
I've seen, along with more Jelly Rolls than a bakery. They had a wonderful section filled with
“cowboy” fabrics which I know we tourists appreciate. It’s always nice to go into a shop and find
fabrics typical of the locale. The other
area I found impressive was the children’s fabric section. I bought something fun to sew, perhaps while
on the road in this section.
Next we went by the Buffalo Bill Center but decided to save
it for Sunday as there is just so much to see.
So, the remaining excitement
today was doing laundry as it will be Minnesota in about a week before there’s
another good place to do it.
Sunday we were both feeling the effects of a bug, better but
not raring to go. By noon we headed for
the Buffalo Bill Center (each wing is another museum or gallery) and spent some time going through the new Draper Museum
of Natural History, impressive.
This picture doesn't show you the immense size of the place. There are multiple wings and multiple floors, it is huge.

We started through the Western Art Gallery but it was hot
and stuffy and we decided we’d had enough.
On the recommendation of a certain friend that uses the moniker Ralph
Kramden we went to the nearby Dairy Queen for a dipped cone. I has been years since I had one and it was messy. Linda was smart and just got a
cone.
To finish out our Cody stay we picked up some supplies at
Albertson’s as Medora, ND doesn’t have much in the way of grocery stores.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally ended Sunday and I think it moved to Cody. They were everywhere and especially noisy in the park. Many riders typically visit Cody on their way to or from Yellowstone or some of the good rides in Montana and Wyoming. I've never understood why what got me tickets for excessive exhaust noise when I was young is perfectly fine for Harleys.

Well too bad you weren't feeling well, but at least the quilt shop looked nice! Tell Mom to send some pictures of what she bought! I'm anxious to hear about Medora.
