Introduction

We are off to.... is our Blog to allow family, friends, and others that are interested to follow us on our extended RV travels.

We aren't full time RVers but like to take extended trips of a month or more as often as we can. We prefer public agency campgrounds like State and National Parks, US Forest Service, etc. We do use some RV Parks if they are the closest or most convenient place to things we want to see or do.

We will attempt to provide information on the various campgrounds we stay in, things to do in the area, and pictures of what we see.

It's September so we're going to the Oregon Coast

Late August to mid October are the best times to be on the Oregon Coast.  The winds are generally calm, mild temperatures and less fog.  At times we have experienced sunny days with temperatures in the 90s but that is rare.  Usually the weather is just very pleasant.

September has children back in school and family vacations are over so there is less traffic and the site availability is much better except in popular fishing locations.  We like some of the less popular spots better anyway.

Originally we had planned to spend three to four weeks on this trip but as frequently happens, the best laid plans didn't turn out to be the best.  I have a frequent flyer and two daughters with six grandchildren (5 north and 1 south) at both ends of the west coast. My frequent flyer needed to get her granny fix and the daughters were beckoning.  So, this trip will be about two weeks as the frequent flyer just returned from the north and will do the south leg when we return.

We will make our way up to Cape Lookout State Park near Tillamook, OR, then work our way down the coast to Sunset Bay State Park near Charleston and Coos Bay, OR.  Next we will continue down to Cape Blanco State Park near Port Orford, OR.  Cape Blanco is our favorite park on the Oregon Coast and we have been going there since the mid 1970s.  We haven't decided where we will go after Cape Blanco but will figure that out when we are ready to leave.

Views like this is why we love the Oregon Coast.

We are on out way!
