Introduction

We are off to.... is our Blog to allow family, friends, and others that are interested to follow us on our extended RV travels.

We aren't full time RVers but like to take extended trips of a month or more as often as we can. We prefer public agency campgrounds like State and National Parks, US Forest Service, etc. We do use some RV Parks if they are the closest or most convenient place to things we want to see or do.

We will attempt to provide information on the various campgrounds we stay in, things to do in the area, and pictures of what we see.

St. Johnsbury, VT

On Sunday we traveled through the Adirondacks on our way to St. Johnsbury, VT.  The scenery was good but not what I would call great, just good.  The trip was somewhat frustrating with the GPS refusing to route us to the Lake Champlain ferry but wanting us to travel around the lake which would have added 150+ miles.  In addition, the highway designations kept changing and didn't agree with our map.  On sections that were used by multiple state highways it could be designated by only one of the route numbers.  On occasion the state route designations were replaced by county road numbers.  Needless to say we had to turn around more than once to get on the correct road.  Once at the ferry terminal the GPS didn't have any problem routing us across the lake.

We spent two nights at Moose River Campground just east of St. Johnsbury, VT.  Of all the RV parks we have stayed at so far this park is by far the best.  Many of the sites back up to the Moose River and it is just nice to sit behind your rig and enjoy the river.  When we arrived, after checking in and proceeding to our campsite, people waved at us as we passed.  Not only are the staff here friendly and accommodating but other campers are eager to stop and chat.  This is a place that we'd love to return to visit.

The colors are starting to turn.  We hope we get more color as we move east.

Of course no visit is complete unless Linda finds a quilt shop.  This one was about 10 miles north of St. Johnsbury in Lyndonville.

Linda:  This shop, Sewin Love Fabric Shoppe, although small, had some fun items and a very friendly owner.  I picked up a few things that are Fall related and I'm sure will remind me of our short stay in Vermont.

Not far from our campground is a maple syrup company.  We picked some up after tasting a number of different syrups.  All were excellent.

Bar Harbor, ME is next and we may be eating lobster for dinner.
